The Huawei MateBook Fold PC (2026) — officially the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design Extraordinary Master Edition — is Huawei's second-generation foldable laptop, combining an 18-inch dual-layer OLED display, the in-house Kirin X90 Plus ARM processor, and HarmonyOS 6.1 into a device that folds from a sprawling desktop workspace down to the footprint of a 13-inch laptop. At just 7.3 mm thin when unfolded and 1.16 kg light, it delivers the screen real estate of a desktop monitor in a body that fits in any bag.

18-Inch Dual-Layer Tandem OLED Display

The centrepiece of the MateBook Fold is its 18-inch flexible dual-layer tandem OLED panel with ultra-thin glass (UTG). This is the same dual-layer OLED architecture Huawei pioneered in the first generation — a first for PCs — which triples the display's expected lifespan while cutting power consumption by 30% compared to a single-layer panel.

The foldable design allows the device to switch seamlessly between three modes: a full 18-inch tablet and desktop workspace, a 13-inch laptop with virtual keyboard, and a partially folded hover mode for presentations, drawing, and media consumption.

Zirconium Liquid Metal Waterdrop Hinge

The 2026 model introduces a re-engineered next-generation waterdrop hinge, the largest in the laptop industry at 285 mm. Built with zirconium-based liquid metal components and a three-stage shaft design, it delivers:

• Zero-gap fold with minimal crease — a significant improvement over the first generation
• Multi-angle hovering from 30 to 150 degrees, plus full-flat mode
• 400% increase in hovering torque over the previous hinge, keeping the screen locked at any angle
• Smoother open-and-close action with improved long-term durability

Kirin X90 Plus Processor — 25% Performance Boost

The MateBook Fold (2026) is powered by Huawei's upgraded Kirin X90 Plus processor, an ARM-based chip operating at a 28W TDP. Huawei claims approximately 25% smoother performance under sustained workloads compared to the previous generation, with lower thermal output thanks to an ultra-thin vapor chamber cooling system paired with diamond-aluminium dual fans.

All configurations use PCIe NVMe SSD storage. Available configurations: 24 GB RAM with 512 GB, 24 GB RAM with 1 TB, or 32 GB RAM with 2 TB.

Featherweight Premium Design

Despite packing enhanced thermal hardware and a larger hinge, the MateBook Fold maintains an astonishingly thin and light profile:

• 7.3 mm thick when fully unfolded
• 14.9 mm thick when folded (similar to a MacBook Air)
• 1.16 kg without keyboard — lighter than a 13-inch MacBook Air
• 1.45 kg with the magnetic keyboard attached

The rear chassis features a silicone-coated vegan leather finish in three colourways: Phantom Black, Radiant Gold (Flowing Light Gold), and Sky White. A built-in pop-out kickstand on the rear lets you prop the device up in both horizontal and vertical orientations without any external accessories.

A magnetically attachable keyboard that connects via Huawei's NearLink (StarFlash) technology. It measures just 5 mm thick, weighs 290 g, features 1.5 mm of key travel, an aluminium alloy construction, and a pressure-sensitive touchpad that won't register accidental touches from underneath.

AI M-Pencil 3 Stylus (New for 2026)

The biggest hardware addition over the first generation.
