I Bought One! Unboxing the Motorola Razr Fold FIFA 2026 Edition

Garry Clark

I have been lucky enough to get hold of brand new Motorola Razr Fold FIFA 2026 Edition and this time it is not a review unit, I have put my money where my mouth is and bought it! I don't normally do reviews of my own personal devices as I buy them for me and not the site. However on this occasion it seems like I am early to the party and it would be rude not to share this with you. With that said, let's get into the unboxing and see what we have.

Unboxing

Starting with the unboxing experience, the Razr Fold Fifa 2026 Edition comes in a nice box that makes for a pleasant unboxing experience. The box comes in two tiers with the top one containing the phone and the cheap plastic case which given the cost of this phone is particularly low in quality. It is also where you will find the moto pen ultra off to the right hand side. Under this top tier you will find the charging cable which is just a regular plastic covered cable and not braided which would have been nice, the cable is about a metre in length. On the opposite side of the cable is the charging and stowage case for the moto pen ultra. This case will charge the pen ultra for an hour's use in one minute. It is also big enough that you shouldn't be able to lose it that easily.

Lastly you have the paperwork box in the middle which contains your warranty info, pen ultra user guide, razr fold quick start guide, a spare pen nib and EU energy rating certificate.

Here is a full gallery of the unboxing images as i went through the process.

I was a bit disappointed to see that there was not a charging brick in the box, just a link on the cable to the moto website inviting you to buy one! Given that this phone has an RRP of £2,119.99 I would have expected to get a charger in the box especially if you order the non Fifa 2026 Edition then you will get a pair of moto buds loop and a moto watch thrown in for free! (Mike has one on order and will be giving his the full video review experience btw) The non Fifa Edition is £540 cheaper by the way at £1579.99 to preorder, the RRP is 1799.99 (I think this is is too expensive though so hopefully they continue the offers for a decent amount of time).

Device tour

Lets start in the right hand side here we find the volume rocker switches and slightly below this the power/sleep wake button, it also pulls triple duty as a fingerprint reader and Gemini action button. The buttons are quite high on the phone near the top but they are still easily reachable at least for me.

Moving around to the base of the phone we find the USB Type C port which is capable of Moto's Turbo charge. It will also allow display out to allow you to extend your display onto a bigger screen if required. There are also 2 pinhole microphones down here to help with the noise cancellation duties.

That is it for the right hand side of the hinge however with this being a fold we have a right hand side as well. On the left side is where the single SIM slot is located. Lastly is the first of the two speakers which is downward firing when the phone is held in portrait.

On the left hand edge of the phone we find a single solitary button which is the AI Button which can be setup to launch the phone's built in AI functions. Sadly these are the Moto AI functions and the button cannot be reprogrammed to any other purpose. This is something that users would appreciate Motorola if you are listening.

As we move to the top of the phone we will get the the left side of the fold where we have the mirror of the first speaker on this top rail which is upward firing this time around. Continuing across the top over the hinge we have a single solitary pinhole microphone. We can now move around to the back of the phone where things get a bit interesting and dare I say more stylish. With this being the Razr Fold FIFA 2026 Edition we have a specially designed rear panel. The back panel is textured with a raised dot pattern which is quite dense and has a nice feel to it. The dots work to provide a bit of extra grip which is nice as this negates the need for a case, it also prevents the buildup of fingerprints which is handy. The back is also two tone affair with the Fifa 2026 logo embedded into the panel in two different tones of black and I want to say dark purple this creates an interesting look which I quite like. That is not all though as the back also features some bling in the form of two embedded 24K gold logos one being. the Motorola brand logo and the other being the official Fifa 2026 logo these are nice embellishments that indicate the phone as being a special edition.

Of course there is a bit more to the back panel than just the back panel design as the top half of the phone is dominated by a slightly offset camera bump which houses the triple 50MP camera sensor array. More on these sensors in the full review.

As the Razr Fold is a "fold" we also have the cover display on the back when unfolded. This cover display panel is of a 6.56" LTPO pOLED type, with a 2520 x 1080 resolution, 165Hz refresh rate and a maximum peak brightness of  6000 nits. It is made of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 to give it some protection against the wear and tear of daily life which is appreciated as the panel does not have a factory fitted screen protector like those found on other chinese oriented folding phones. It is also the world's first phone to feature this new screen technology.

At the top of the cover display we will find the first of two front facing cameras which consists of a 20MP camera which I will discuss further in the review as well.

If you flip the phone around then you will find the main display which is an expansive 8.09" LTPO pOLED panel, with 2K (2484 x 2232) resolution, a slightly reduced refresh rate of 120Hz, and a maximum peak brightness of 6200 nits. As this is a folding screen the screen is made of Ultra Thin Glass which of course will come with all the regular foibles associated with this screen construction.

The other section to take note of is the hinge which is of course hidden but the effect that this has on the display panel and the resulting crease. Yes, unlike the latest and greatest from Oppo and to a slightly lesser extent Honor there is a crease here but it is not that much of a chasm like we have seen before. You can feel it and you can see it but as with any foldable from the last year or so it is not something that you will notice in daily usage. The images below show the screen after 6 days of usage.

Under the screen sits a precision-engineered stainless steel teardrop hinge guides every open and close, reducing screen stress with each fold. Tested for everyday use, it protects the display and delivers lasting strength you can trust.

The screen itself is also mounted on a titanium inner screen plate to help distribute the pressure across to give it more support, this is especially important for the next bit.

What is very cool about the screens is that unlike another major rival especially in the native western markets of Europe and America the Razr Fold will support the moto pen ultra which is a Bluetooth enabled pen that is a separate non stowable pen that will work on both the internal and the cover display! The pen itself comes with a handy case for charging and stowing when not in use. While it is not the most seamless of solutions at least the option is there. Incidentally if you buy any of the Moto razr fold series at the moment you will get the moto pen ultra included for free!

Last but by no means least are the details of the size and weight of the Razr Fold. When open in "tablet"mode  the device is 144.47mm × 160.05 mm × 4.55 mm when you close it up it measures in at 160.05 × 73.6 × 9.89 mm. Whilst this is a tad thicker than other flagships folds released this year it is not that bad. I honestly like the fact that there is a little bit of chonk to the device as I felt that with phones like the Oppo Find N6 things were starting to get silly.

Flow_IMG_20260423_210552_01_034.jpgOne more little design feature that I really like is the ever so slight bezeling of the edge rails of the phone that allows for a shallow "V" cross section when the phone is closed. This makes for an easy grip to allow for a nice grip to unfold the phone.

Here are some more photos for you to enjoy where I show the folded state  from the sides and also the Razr Fold compared to the Razr 60 Ultra (review is coming soon).

Here are the specs for all of those who want to now the finer details of the phone.
