Morning after a night of hard (bar) networking with Honor where we met many of the other YouTubers that you all know and like, this morning started a little bit ropey but the spinning ride of MWC doesn't stop for anyone and the day begins with Qualcomm and the AI media event.

09:00 am Qualcomm

The event started with a. Bit of a recap of what Qualcomm have been doing already with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite chipset that is in all our favourites mobile devices including the ones that have been released below. Is that a Motorola Fold hiding on the right hand side there!

However Qualcomm are not just about mobile they also have their chips in Laptops and 2 in 1 Convertible PC’s. Now we have a chap from Lenovo up to talk about Lenovo's usage of the Qualcomm platform with Lenovo Qira the new cross device AI Super agent available on Lenovo and Motorola devices.

Lenovo will be launching 4 new devices today and these devices are all based around the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform and will be utilising the Lenovo Qira AI platform. There are two devices in particular that would be attuned too our inclinations these being the Lenovo Yoga Tab Pro Gen 2 and the Lenovo Legion 8.8 Gen 5 gaming tablet.

Another area were Qualcomm is diving into the AI arena is in wearable devices as more and more the ancillary products we use to expand our smartphone use and enjoyment But more info is too come on this in part 2 of this AI session.

AI is also becoming more and more evident in the Industry world and of course Qualcomm are involved here with their Dragonwing chip platforms these will be powering industrial robotics including the humanoid platform.Your home is always becoming a new space where AI is now encroaching into with the ongoing evolution of Smart homes the key to a Smart home is great connectivity Qualcomm are bringing their Network Expertise to this domain via the Dragonwing family of chips designed for home.

Cars and AI. Soon your car will have more AI in it beyond just a fancy infotainment system running Android Auto or Apple Car play. Qualcomm want to bring their Chip powered AI to your travels soon.

Unsurprisingly all this AI will require the use and exchanges of Data and Qualcomm are getting in early with the use of the Next Generation of Mobile data connectivity 6G. They are part of this massive collaboration of the major players in the industry.

Ericsson are now on stage to explain what is going to be one of the key requirements for the 6G network. AI is going to built as a core part of the 6G network to allow for an intelligent network with a new focus on not just downlink (downloads) speeds but a big push on the increase ofuplink (uploads). This will be needed as more and more devices will be moving their AI compute aspects away from the server in a remote AI data centre to on the actual device.

Next up from Qualcomm is the Rise of Personal AI

Qualcomms AI Platform is Assistant Agnostic so it doesn't matter what AI assistant you are using the Snapdragon platform will still crunch away quite happily regardless.

Estimates predict that AI powered smart devices will be a massive growth area going into the 2030’s particularly with the growth of Smart Wearables and Smart headphones/earphones.

Qualcomm are looking to the backbone of  the AI platform with your phone laptop being the computing brains and the wearable devices being the limbs if you can allow for the analogy.

The presenters are now having an interesting discussion about the evolution of the traditional Compute platform that has moved from the Desktop PC down to the Laptop and then to the phone. The next step is going to be the Wearable AI compute platform where your on device AI agent will be able to complete not just the instruction set from your phone or laptop but the actual computing on the smaller worn device.

How have wearable devices evolved over the years? It has mostly been down to the evolution of Qualcomm Chipsets. Qualcomm are not resting on their laurels and are now bringing the Elite level of Chipset onto the Wear platform allowing for the compute power to take the next step described above. This increase in power now being built into the wearable devices this will allow for a more personal AI Experience such as the examples below: Pendants Watch's and person Mounted devices

How is this new chip going to up the levels of performance well a significant step up. One of the biggest pains points for me with smart watches was battery life and the new Elite Chipsets will increase the battery life due to the 3nm chip design.This gives a 30% increase of daily use runtime and much faster time to recharge. The connectivity of the devices get a significant bump as part of the new chip set due to the new first of a kind hexa connectivity solution.

What implementations can we expect with this new chip set, well, fortunately there were some of the OEM manufacturers in attendance to shed some light on this question.

Google are now on stage to talk about the next steps for Wear OS Gemini being on Wear OS will now be running AI models on the device meaning that less of the compute  functions would need to be passed off from the phone.

Samsung are now up to talk about their wearable futures. The next Galaxy Watch will feature the new Snapdragon Wear Elite. With the new AI capabilities the next Galaxy Watch will become a new wellness focused watch beyond the existing health services currently on offer.

Now we have Motorola to look at next step for their Personal AI devices, this is "Project Maxwell" which is an AI assistant that will see what you see and hear what you here. This is still in concept phase but could be coming to a neckline or jacket lapel near you soon.

With that the event is being wrapped up and we can expect to see Snapdragon Wear Elite devices within this year.
