MWC Diary Day 1

After a seriously early start,leaving my house at 00:45 in the morning to get to London Luton Airport for a 6:15 am flight courtesy of easyJet I have finally arrived in Barcelona  and my First stop is hopefully going to be TCL unless I get held up by the new European Entry System delays at the airport.

Off the back of the Milano Cortina winter Olympics where they were a primary sponsor I am intrigued to see what they have in hand.

11:00 am TCL Media Event

They are showcasing some new tablets in the form of the TCL Nextpaper A1 Plus NXTPAPER and the Nextpaper Tab they also had this pretty nifty kids Smart watch, the TCL MovieTime which followed you around when you mated with TCL Tbot which is a swivel charging stand.

14:00 pm Xiaomi launch event

Biggest launch event of the year after the usual intros and self congratulations that are present at all these types of keynotes we got into the nitty gritty of what we want to know about. Apparently 3700000 photos are taken every second around the world with 98% being taken on smartphones.

Xiaomi 17

Xiaomi 17 goes global, this phone has already been fully revised on the site and can be found at this link (Insert review link from AD Blog). This was a nice little phone and I am pleased to see that it is now going global as this is a great option for the high mid category. Or for someone who simply wants to have a smaller footprint phone.

The Xiaomi 17 ike the rest of the Xiaomi 17 series  it will work with Mac via various Xiaomi cross platform integrations.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra

The 17 Ultra has now gone global bringing all the much hyped and loved by the team here at AD Camera Tech to the global market. There is no difference in terms of hardware between the Global and Chinese versions. The key differences are going to be within the Software stack. With this being a Global release now you can enjoy the benefits of having all your favourite Google services including Google Timeline, Android Wear compatibility and Android Auto. These additions make the phone much more of a realistic option for buyers who just want their Android phones to be like what they know from other Android brands like Samsung (this is what an Ultra device should be by the way Koh!)

Of course we had to have a video from Arun @ Mr Who's the Boss where would a media event be without YouTube big hitters being present in one way or another!

One more thing from Xiaomi but this time from Mattias Harsch CEO Lecia Camera AG, I wonder what he will have to say….

Of course he is here to announce the Lecia Leitzphone Powered by Xiaomi, this phone was previously know as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition. Like with its Ultra Cousin this will now come in a full Global release allowing for all of the comfortable and well known Google features to a camera with a phone in tow!

The Core camera UX has been designed to represent what would be found on a Lecia camera, whilst the Essential mode will allow you to play around with different effect to recreate what would have been possible from Lecia lens of old.

Next up Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro

I am not going to steal Mike's thunder as he has done a  full video on the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro, there is one thing I do want to mention which is that it will be available in a Matte screen version. This looks like a really good tablet if you don't want a giant monolith like those released from other brands

And finally time for new EV News and Gran Turismo relationship.

They are talking about Hypercars, I think this may be outwith my budget though Xiaomi Vision GT is just a Concept at the moment but it wasn't long ago that the other Xiaomi EV’s were concepts. It is all very fancy but a little but outwith the scope of the Average Dad Tech Blog.

That's wraps up the Xiaomi event for the day safe to say that Xiaomi have got a lot of very cool stuff going on here at MWC. Now get me to a bar I need a cold beer!!
