Honor shows off first images of the Global Honor Magic8 Lite

Today we have been provided with some new images of the upcoming Honor8 Lite smartphone, which promises to be a really interesting prospect for the mid-range smartphone market when it launches in a few weeks’ time.

Let’s have a look at these images and see what we can learn from them.

Ay, so this one gives a view from the front showing what looks to be a large front display. If we compare the button size to the display, I would hazard a guess that this is going to be 6.5" or more for display size. It is also showing off the phone being dropped and citing a drop resistance of up to 2.5m, which is pretty damn impressive. Given the durability of the Magic7 Lite(2m drop test rated by SGS, IP64 rated), I have every reason to believe that this will be the same levels, if not more. I am also seeing what look like relatively uniform and slim bezels around the display, which is promising.

So this picture goes on to confirm my suspicions from the previous one in that we have a higher IP rating than the previous generation, going up to IP68, IP69K this year, which means that the phone will be able to sustain a high-temperature jet of water being sprayed at it. So for those of you who like using your phone in the shower or a tropical rainforest, you should be safe! Seeing more of the Forest green tone as well, which I have to say I am liking the look of!

Finally, here we have the Honor Magic 8 Lite in a glorious red colour with gold detailing. This version is going to be called Reddish Brown and looks to have a lot more texture on it than the Forest Green one we saw earlier (however, we haven't seen a clear shot of the back of the Forest Green yet). Again, it is emphasising the rugged and durability aspects of the phone’s design, which is very promising.

So that is all we have for today, but I will expect there to be more and more information coming out about this device over the next few weeks as we build up to the full global launch, which looks to be on the cards for some time in January from what I have been seeing circling the rumour mill.
